Connecticut Schools Are a Big Reason Families Love Living Here

When families are considering a move to Connecticut, one of the first questions I hear is, “What are the schools like?” And as a mom myself, I completely understand why.

When I was looking at where I wanted to raise my three kids, schools were a huge part of the conversation. I wanted my children to have access to strong educational opportunities, supportive communities, and schools where they could grow both academically and personally. That’s one of the things that made Connecticut such a special place for my family.

Connecticut has a long history of strong academic performance, and the most recent statewide data continues to show encouraging results. In the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress, Connecticut fourth-grade students performed above the national public-school average in reading, while Connecticut eighth-grade students performed above the national average in both reading and mathematics.

The state’s more recent data also shows continued progress. Connecticut reported improvements in English language arts, mathematics, and science during the 2025–26 school year, with math and science scores improving for the fourth consecutive year.

For me, though, choosing a community isn’t just about looking at test scores.

When I’m helping a family buy a home, I don’t want to simply send you a list of houses and tell you to pick one. I want to understand your family.

What’s important to you? Where do you work? What do your kids enjoy? Do you want to be close to the water? Do you need an easy commute? Are you relocating from another state? Are you coming to Southeastern Connecticut because of a military PCS? Those details help us figure out which communities may make sense for you.

I’ll help you explore homes and neighborhoods throughout Southeastern Connecticut and share the local knowledge I’ve gained from living and working in the area. I can also point you toward official school district resources so you can research current school assignments, programs, enrollment requirements, and other information directly from the source.

Connecticut’s official education data is available through the state’s EdSight system, which provides information on individual schools and districts, including enrollment, graduation rates, test results, attendance, and other performance measures.
